ZeroTube - A West Cornwall Film Collaboration
Tags: Film, Mongalloyd, Zero Lounge, ZeroTubeWest Cornwall has a wealth of filmmaking talent and even more great film material.
ZeroTube will feature films from established local filmmakers as well as self-submitted videos and iPhone clips.
If anyone has a funny, surreal, interesting or plain odd films that they would like to submit for screening then please contact me at nigel@pengellyfamily.co.uk or through Facebook.
All the films will be quite short and although we retain to right to censor material, anything goes (within reason).
Also, on this night, will be the world premiere of The Second Coming a film shot partly in the car park behind the Zero Lounge and on the A30 on a budget of £100.
We have te first big screen showing of Stop by Mark Jenkin featuring Darcy Vanhinsbergh as he takes a rest somewhere quite unorthodox. Them there's Rollerskates starring folk hero and legend Lloyd Burnard as he takes us on a cultural tour of Helston on rollerskates, and not much clothing. Also we have Immobilise - a film that goes undercover to reveal the truth about Cornish wheelclampers.
The award-winning An Jowl Yn Agas Kegin (The Devil In Your Kitchen) is one of the best films to come out of Cornwall in recent years and stars a prime time television celebrity (I don't want to ruin the surprise).
In all, it's a real smorgasbord of genres from the serious and refined to the stupid and sublime - there's not one film that won't entertain. Among the films are gems by respected filmmakers like Mark Jenkin, Denzil Monk, Brett Harvey and Chris Ryan. Promoter Nigel Pengelly said: "Despite film making technology being so widely available, there doesn't seem to be an outlet for home-made productions other than YouTube or online channels. There is no better way to watch films than on a big screen with a room full of people. The Zero Lounge is the perfect location for this with big screens, a good sound system and an intimate atmosphere."
"I've been surprised by the response to ZeroTube and have had many films sent in for screening. Anyone can submit a film and everyone now can be a filmmaker. Come down and be impressed by the talent - and in some cases lack of talent - in these short snippets of life in Penwith."
