Experimental purveyors of jazz, The People’s String Foundation, will be playing at the Eden Café on Friday December 9.

The People’s String Foundation knit together jazz, hip-hop, big beats and Eastern melodies with beautiful song writing to create their highly original music. Taking inspiration from their surroundings, every performance is unique, with fable-like songs reinterpreted for each new audience.

The band, who boast a selection of electric and double bass, Cuban-inspired bassoon, and a variety of fast-paced, spiritual gypsy-jazz and classical violin, have been touring the UK extensively during 2010 and 2011 with their debut album Making Waves. The album, which uses various styles of roots and modern influences, tells the story of a single wave making its way towards the sea.

Dan Ball, Eden Café Manager, said: “I’m really excited to welcome the People’s String Foundation back to the Eden Café. They received a great response in the summer and they’re the perfect band to help shake off the winter blues.”

Thegig takes place from 8pmuntil midnight.Tickets are available from the café beforehand for a concessionary rate of £4 and on the door at the full price of £5.

Therewill be a selection of local beverages, along with bread and dips and chickpea & pumpkin curry, which are available until 9:30pm.
