Coco Marie

Town:
Truro

When I originally moved down to Cornwall several years ago from Buckinghamshire I wondered where there would be for me to shop and buy the kind of clothes I liked to wear. I had worked in a high end boutique for several years before University and was used to buying really unique and often one-off designer clothing labels. The problem was there wasn’t anywhere at the time that stocked my favourite brands or offered what I was looking for.

With encouragement from our family, friends and husbands Mum and I set about starting up what is now Coco Marie and opened in October 2005. We wanted a great mix of brands from across the world that also showcased some hot up and coming designers. Originally we sourced brands that we already liked to wear ourselves and ones that were known for their great quality. As time has passed we are now approached by new designers and we look out for exciting brands that receive great press and are known for their individuality.

We have always said that one of our strengths is the different generations that we cater to because both Mum and I work together on the buying side of things. We have very different tastes in clothing; but we feel they are brought together fantastically, meaning our audience isn’t pigeonholed into one age bracket.  We get grandmothers, mothers and daughters all shopping in Coco Marie together.

Originally only focusing on clothing we now stock beautiful sexy underwear, gorgeous perfume, fabulous jewellery and handbags and wonderful gift items that excite and entice customers on a daily basis.

Our mantra since Coco Marie’s inception has always been “Shopping should be fun”, and that is how customers say they feel when they step through the doors of our little French boutique in the heart of Truro’s independent shopping district.
