Cornish-based,, have launched a web application set to revolutionise the way businesses in the UK engage with their customers through their mobile phones.

FireText have created a simple, low cost application enabling businesses to send and receive their own branded text-message (SMS) promotions, reminders or customer notifications to potential new and existing customers in an instant. Something that has previously been reserved for larger corporations or included in expensive software with limited functionality.

FireText was set-up by Cornish graduate Dan Parker and his University colleague James Huff whilst studying at the University of York. What started out as a university project, providing group text services for a few SCUBA diving clubs, quickly expanded to providing text messages to over 3500 SCUBA divers in the UK and now hopes to use the proven concept to help businesses easily send engage with their customers.

FireText Director, Dan Parker spoke exclusively to Cornwall’s Coolest: “Text messaging is an extremely powerful, yet simple tool. Whether you own a restaurant, a plumbing business or hold regular events, sending a quick message can dramatically improve bookings and sales. We’ve created an outstanding web-application making it possible for any business to boost their brand and build a competitive edge in their sector instantly,  at the same time as reducing marketing costs!”.

FireText have not stopped there. In a move to re-create the industry standard for text marketing services in the UK, each business signing up to the service receives their own dedicated text number for incoming messages; allowing even the smallest businesses to accept leads, build their database, receive questions or even feedback at a time convenient for the customer.

“By utilising advances in technology, we can reset the bar for this type of communication and help local businesses grow and succeed in the way should. This is something that we are very proud of.”

Dan and James have ambitious plans for the future with the intention of winning new business and integrating text messaging as an important communication tool within businesses in and out of the county.
