The Crooked Fiddle Band are over here on their first UK Tour and have covered England, Ireland and Scotland already and are coming to Cornwall to round off their tour before performing at Shambala Festival in Northampton on their final dates before flying back to Australia to carry on their tour.. They are based in Sydney

Intertwining folk traditions with modern evolutions, this Sydney-based acoustic four-piece (double-bass, violin, drums and guitar/bouzouki) deliver a no-holds-barred celebration of dark, ecstatic energy which spurs the dance floor into a post-apocalyptic hoedown.

Coming from another hemisphere, the band are looking forward to reaching a new, yet open minded audience.

“I hoped they like our punked up take on traditional styles” says guitarist Gordon Wallace. “You guys aren’t scared of anything new, so on that basis, it should be well received”.

Filling the room wherever they play, the band are just as at home in the late night revelry of an underground warehouse party or the globally famous stage of the Sydney Opera House.

They also have received some accolades from high places, with legend Brian Eno programming the band as part of his luminous festival at the Sydney Opera House.

“The Crooked Fiddle Band are completely surprising: the music is original and quixotic, and yet has the strength of some deep and strong roots. I can’t say I’ve ever heard anything else like it!” – Brian Eno

“Every single person ends up dancing with abandon by the end of the show. The songs have bounce, depth and hooks, and it is this that brings me back each time they play: the strangeness is just an added bonus.” bleedingears.net

“tCFB forge a fiery blend of various violin traditions with punk intensity and the raw finesse of crazed street virtuosos.” – Bradfield Dumpleton, indie-cds.com

“It has the intensity of most thrash metal songs yet doesn’t need heavy, distorted electric guitars to get that point across...sure to get people moshing in the pit!” – Jess Francesconi, metalreviews.com
