Cornish Social Media Expert Launches Own business

One of the south west’s most well respected social media experts, Aren Grimshaw, has launched his own social media freelance consultancy business in Cornwall.

Aren has worked in sales and marketing in the south west for the past 10 years.  Most recently he held the position of Marketing Director at Tonick Media and prior to that was Head of Social Media at UKNetWeb. Aren has also worked as a freelance journalist and as a call centre manager, giving him a wealth of experience to draw on.  

Over recent years, Aren has developed an impressive reputation for providing no-nonsense, effective and cutting edge social media services to clients in the south west and increasingly nationally.

Aren will be working as a freelance consultant, trading as ‘Aren Grimshaw’, from today, Monday 23 August 2010.  His dedicated website www.arengrimshaw.co.uk also launched today.    

As a freelance Consultant Aren will be providing a range of social media services, including; training, consultancy, strategy and mentoring, as well as more hands on help for businesses, such as setting up and managing their social media accounts.

Aren said: “I have been thinking of starting my own business for some time.  Social Media is a serious business and I feel that there are lots of people and businesses out there not making best use of the technology available to them.  As a freelance consultant I hope to be able to advise and support businesses, large and small, to help them maximise the potential social media channels present.”

Current clients are predominantly based within the south west, however, Aren has growing demand from national and international businesses for his services, including a new health practice in Harley Street, London. 

A wide range of public and private sector businesses have benefited from social media advice, past clients include; InvestIn Cornwall, Cornwall Pure Business, VisitCornwall, Business Link South West, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Worldwide Financial Planning, UKNetWeb, Talent Cornwall and Cornish Mutual.

Aren currently delivers social media training seminars on behalf of Business Link in the south west, he will continue to do this on a freelance basis. 

Aren added: “No matter what the size or scope of your business, social media should be an essential part of the overall marketing strategy.  Lots of people are jumping on the social media band wagon just because they think they should.  I want to show people that not all social media channels are right for them and their specific business objectives, and that online activity has to be targeted in order to be effective.”

Following Aren’s departure Tonick Media will continue trading as before, with a focus on its core business of traditional media, including Business Cornwall Magazine and website.
