Drive In Movies Return To Swanpool Beach This Summer
Tags: Movies, SwanpoolSwanpool Beach in Falmouth is set to host sing-a-long classic and Hollywood blockbuster, Mamma Mia on Saturday 14 August.
Playing host to Falmouth’s first drive in movie during 2008, the Swanpool Beach Car Park proved to be the perfect location for the outdoor extravaganza. More than 200 cars drove in and parked up and hundreds of people enjoyed the atmosphere of the open air screening of Grease.
Mamma Mia is expected to be just as popular, with people getting dressed up and singing along to Abba classics like The Winner Takes It All, Take a Chance on Me and of course all time favourite, Dancing Queen.
Proprietor of Swanpool Beach and event organiser Pete Lochrie said: “Our first Drive In Movie in 2008 was a huge success and we have been planning on doing it again ever since. We’re really looking forward to showing Mamma Mia on 14 August and want everyone to come along, enjoy themselves and have some fun.
“We have chosen Mamma Mia as it’s a family friendly, feel-good-film that people can sing along with, dress up for and really get in the spirit of. I hope, that just like last time, people will make an evening of it as it’s a great night out for families and friends.”
In addition to the movie, the magical and captivating Swamp Circus will be performing their rare and exciting blend of contemporary circus theatre from 7pm. This year the talented performers will also be undertaking a new and daunting high wire act near the movie screen. Atlantic FM will also be on site to help the event get underway by broadcasting on the special radio frequency before the movie starts.
Tickets are priced at just £25 per vehicle. Cars, campers and minibuses are all welcome and the ticket price is the same no matter what the size of the vehicle or number of people. Tickets go on sale this week via www.swanpoolbeach.co.uk and from Swanpool Beach Cafe.
Pete added: “As we did before, we will be putting up a big screen at the far end of the car park and people will be given a radio frequency to tune their radios to so they can hear the film through their car stereo. With the extra food and drink caterers on hand and Swamp Circus performing before the movie starts, there will be lots going on from the late afternoon. It will be a great family night out so make sure you book your ticket and come and join us.”
Swanpool Beach Cafe will be open for food and drink throughout the evening events and delicious and tempting food will also be available from a range of extra food outlets on the night.
